At NextHome Woodland Springs, we’re here to support you on your journey to success. Our broker, Justin Chavez, mentors agents through every step of the process of becoming a REALTOR®. To get you started, here’s a step-by-step guide:
PRE-LICENSE COURSE
Start by purchasing your 180-Hour Texas Pre-Licensing Course for Sales Associates. We recommend The CE Shop because their course is well-formatted and they offer both pre-license and continuing education courses.*
APPLY FOR YOUR LICENSE
While you’re working on your pre-licensing course, you can apply for your Texas Real Estate License. You can visit this TREC page to get more information about testing locations, requirements, and fees.
GET FINGERPRINTED
As part of your license application, you need to get fingerprinted. First, search for your TREC account on this page. Then you will be able to obtain your IdentoGO ID required to schedule a fingerprinting appointment.
COMPLETE THE COURSE
Before you can proceed any further in becoming a REALTOR®, you’ll need to complete the 180-Hour Texas Pre-Licensing Course for Sales Associates.
PASS THE TEXAS AND NATIONAL EXAM
Now it’s time to chedule and pass your exam! The exam is administered at a physical testing site through Pearson Vue. (Locations exist throughout Texas, and online proctoring is now available.)
FIND A SPONSORING BROKER
Once you pass your exam, select a brokerage (hopefully NextHome Woodland Springs!), sign up for the association and MLS, and get lockboxes and other materials.
There are continuing education credits required as a licensed REALTOR, and many other things to learn as you go. But the first step is getting the pre-license course selected and started! Remember to pace yourself, and try to accomplish an hour or two a day. Before you know it, you’ll be ready to take the exam. Contact Justin for help or guidance as you progress through the pre-license course. He is always eager to help agents better understand the concepts in practice.
